Bina has become a pro when it comes to Chemo treatment. Today, she walked in the hospital, mostly sat and talked while waiting for Chemo to start. Got into argument with Dr. Smruti ( the Oncologist) as well as with Dr. Gokhale ( the cardiologist). There was some misunderstanding about the long break in the Chemo sessions. We thought Bina will be done after two more sessions but Dr. Smruti's definition of a long break was ten days (not years...what we were thinking). Bina wanted a long break and got scolded by the doctor for being negligent about not doing anything about the cancer in time. She said she will not let Bina make the same mistake again:)
Dr. Gokhale was very pleased with the progress of the heart and said she can be off the oxygen, off the nebulizer and soon off the bi pep too. This is a very good news because this means she can be fully independent very soon with no long term help needed. Bina wanted to take some Aryuvedic stuff for constipation and Dr. Gokhale was not too sure about that but after a little convincing he agreed. So, everyone is happy, Chemo went well. Only disappointment is that, there will be 18 Chemo sessions, out of which 5 are done. Good news is that, there is a major improvement after each chemo session and at this rate, after 18 sessions, Bina will be ready to run a marathon:)
I will like to finish up my Indore blog. I wanted to meet and do a girl's night out with my friends from Kindergarten but ran out of time so just spent an afternoon with them. We were together from four years old till 14 years old ( kindergarten to 8th grade) and we were best friends. After eight grade I went to a different school to take Math and physics, they stayed and took biology. They told me an interesting fact ( i have no memory of...I think i am losing it rapidly and that is why I want to visit friends and write stuff down:) . Apparently, I was so good in math that the principal and the math teacher wanted me to take math as major in high school and go to this other school that offered math to girls. But I did not want to leave my friends. Sadhna said that we all cried like that was the end of the world and there was this big drama about me leaving my friends but I was almost forced to leave the school for my own good.....as i said i have no recollection and I wonder what the math teacher thinks about this now or if she even remembers me. I loved Ms. Kalele ( the math teacher) and i guess she cared enough to give me the courage that i needed to venture out.Sadhana went on to become the head of the country's Narcotic lab and Lilawati is the prof. and head of the dept of social phycology at IIT Kanpur. Sadhna's mom ( in 90's) knew me right away and knew me right away. She was delighted to see the pictures of Explorabox Maker Faire and butterfly birth process. even asked me few questions about them. Both Sadhana and Lila are retired in Indore. It seems like people do not leave Indore and if they do , they come back to retire here..
More reasons to go to Indore. My nephews and Nieces and their kids. My sister in law (Bhabhi) lives with my nephew and his family. They just built this 3500 sq feet "flat" in a fancy building with swimming pools , gym and gardens. Inside of the flat is just as nice or nicer than most homes in USA and have all imaginable automation and facilities. Additional advantage is the wonderful home made food cooked by their mom ( my sister in law) . I cannot say enough nice things about Bhabhi. As a young bride, she came in our household of three young ( almost her age) girls, two younger brother in laws and of course mother in law and father in law and assortment of relatives who came and went. She blended in so well that we never thought of her as an outsider. She was always there for each of us as we were for her and her children. Her kids ( our nephews and nieces) were the most loved kids ever (by us and our friends) She is a very quiet and gentle soul and was this way even when she was young.

There used to be mango trees all over the town. Now, there are still mango trees every where, it is not like it used to be.
Kids playing under the Mango and Gulmoher tree at a friends house.
With this I will like to say good night ...i am very grateful for a productive and peaceful day. Good night...
