Xiamen: Hiking in 93 degrees and 80% humidity

Today was a day of hiking in a sauna. We started the day by driving to a national park in the mountains. It was HOT, so most of our hiking was driving around. When we did hike, it was beautiful - trails very well maintained with soft music playing from the speakers hidden in the stones.  On the top of the park, there was a place where the Emperor during the Tang dynasty (800’s) took shelter and a Taiwanese person has built a temple of three Buddhas. This area of China has at least 70% of the population following Buddhism and has Buddha’s shrine in their homes.

China : A Buddhist country ???

Trail at the National Park…

After a short afternoon nap, we visited another park, saw excellent views, and people dancing to the music. Back to the ocean to watch the sun set over the ocean and for some people watching. We walked along the beautiful walkway along the ocean and ended up eating dinner at the huge DIM SUM place. There were at least 600 people in the restaurant at any given time.

Sunset in Xiamen

We will have to come back to USA and go on a starvation diet J

Tidbit :
  •  1) Women in China (at least the present day women in middle class families) are equal in all aspects and take care of everything equally
  • 2) Middle or upper middle class families stay in small apartments (as compared to USA) and share it with several generations happily
  • 3) Greenie's cousins are still taking care of all of us and planning everything. (just very grateful)
Good night!
